On Aug. 13, Lehigh County District Attorney James Martin and Allentown Police Chief Glenn Granitz Jr. announced two Catasauqua residents and one Coopersburg resident face theft and related charges for stealing more than $25,000 from an Allentown woman.
Tammy Pedraza, 51, and Olivia Pedraza, 23, both of Catasauqua, and Niko Pedraza, 27, of Coopersburg, have been charged with one count each of theft by deception, receiving stolen property, access device fraud and conspiracy, according to the report. All charges are felonies of the third degree.
On Aug. 27, 2019, Allentown police said they received a fraud report from an employee at a senior living facility. Investigators learned the victim, an 80-year-old woman, had thousands of dollars in fraudulent purchases made from her bank account through the use of a credit/debit card.
Allentown police Detective Joshua Baker determined that on various dates from March through August 2019, the victim’s bank account had 470 fraudulent transactions totaling more than $25,800, the report said.
The woman told police she did not give the Pedrazas permission to use her bank account information or her bank card, according to the report.
Police said Baker determined the Pedrazas used the victim’s credit/debit card to make purchases online or over the phone. The purchases included numerous food deliveries, a gym membership, a student loan payment and other expenses.
