To the Editor:
As a longtime resident of Emmaus, I have a concern regarding the flooding brought about by the Isaias storm.
During the storm, my basement flooded but it wasn’t rainwater. It was sewage.
I know this from where I watched it come into my basement, and the fecal matter on my basement floor.
Further on my way home that afternoon, I saw two manhole covers out of place and brown sewage rushing into the street – one of them by the CVS on Seventh Street.
I want the people of Emmaus to know that this is dangerous. All types of bacteria and viruses, including coronavirus, are found in sewage. Please take the proper precautions if you found water in your basement.
