Northampton man found dead along Lehigh River

The Northampton County Coroner’s Office has identified the man whose body was found Aug. 15 along the Lehigh River in Freemansburg as the Northampton Borough man reported missing Aug. 9.

The coroner’s office said Michael Andrews, 48, was found dead just before 5 p.m. in the area of the 100 block of Main Street, Freemansburg.

News of Andrews’ disappearance was released by WolfPack Search and Recovery via Facebook and was shared throughout the region.

Andrews was reportedly last seen Aug. 6. A missing person’s report had been filed with Northampton Borough Police Department.

According to the WolfPack Facebook post, Andrews’ car was discovered in the parking deck of the Wind Creek Bethlehem casino. His wallet had been placed in a drop box at Bethlehem Police Department.

The WolfPack post was updated over the weekend with the news of Andrews’ death.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time. Thank you all for sharing this post in an attempt to locate him,” it read.

The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy and investigation.
