While some classes will be virtual in Northampton Area School District, lunch will be actual.
NASD students who are not participating in in-person classroom instruction will still be able to have lunch.
In an Aug. 18 email to parents and guardians, the NASD administration outlined procedures for lunch distribution for district students participating in hybrid instruction, eLearning and the Northampton Cyber Academy.
The procedures, which go into effect Aug. 31, also apply to students who attend Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School.
Social distancing and face masks are required when picking up lunch.
Lunch is not available when schools are closed for in-service days or holidays.
For elementary school (kindergarten-grade 5) students, lunches are available 10-11 a.m. Mondays through Fridays at the student’s school.
Elementary school pick-up locations are:
• George Wolf, under canopy at gym entrance, doors 36 and 37
• Lehigh, student drop-off area at bus loop, doors 29 and 30
• Moore, side of building at Y Care entrance, doors 30 and 31
• Siegfried, which includes Franklin students, bus loop near front office
For students in grades 6-12, lunch distribution is 10-11 a.m. Mondays through Fridays at door 14, outside the concession stand facing the field hockey/soccer field in the bus loop between Northampton Area High School and Northampton Area Middle School.
The student’s ID will be required to obtain lunch and will be scanned upon arrival.
The student’s account will be charged based upon eligibility (free, reduced or paid).
Lunch prices will remain consistent with the student’s eligibility:
• Paid: $2.40 (elementary student); $2.60 (secondary student)
• Reduced: $0.40 (elementary and secondary students)
Cash and checks will not be accepted when picking up lunch.
Funds may be added to the student’s account as follows:
• Online at schoolcafe.com
• Check (include student name and ID) made payable to NASD Lunch Fund and mailed to:
NASD Food Services
100 Held Drive
Northampton, PA 18067
The information sent to parents and guardians included answers to frequently asked questions. Examples of menus were also given.
Applications for free and reduced-price lunch may be completed at schoolcafe.com.
