Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church’s youth group held a fundraiser Aug. 15 to support its special events calendar.
“We have been sponsoring a student, Linatha, since 2013 with events like this. All of the donations from today’s event will go to World Vision that cares for war-ravaged children in Yemen,” said Diane Czar, who heads up the youth group.
The event was well orchestrated. The church has an excellent kitchen facility. Everything was prepared inside and brought outdoors to distribute to patrons. Seating was available for those who want to picnic. Others were able to take tacos home.
Pastor Brian Riedy welcomed Riley Knecht, who helped distribute food. Riley recently won the American Royal Beauty Pageant and was crowned Miss Mid-Atlantic at ceremonies in Butler.
“My goal, and that of everyone in the pageant, is to serve our communities. I selected my motto as ‘Crown to Serve,’” she said.
Riedy reported the taco sales were exceeding expectations.
“We are happy that we are able to provide some good food and benefit a good cause,” he said.
