Dorney Park raises $15,000 for LVHN Covid-19 fund

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom presented a check for $15,000 to Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) to benefit LVHN’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund.

The money was raised during Dorney Park’s Fourth of July Drive-in Fireworks event.

“It’s not about making a donation. It’s about making a difference, especially during these unprecedented times,” said Michael Fehnel, Vice President and General Manager of Dorney Park at the Aug. 5 check presentation.

“Through our partnership with LVHN, the health and safety of our associates and guests are elevated, and now we had the opportunity to give back in a great way and help fight this global pandemic crisis, together. We are proud of the way the community came together to enjoy a July 4th tradition in support of the LVHN COVID-19 Emergency Fund,” Fehnel said.

LVHN’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund supports the needs of patients and staff during the global pandemic. Funds may be used to offset accumulated expenses during the pandemic crisis and recovery periods.

“The outreach from our corporate partners and community members has been astonishing and shows great compassion during COVID-19,” said Jane Wrisley, Vice President, LVHN Office of Philanthropy.

“Despite being impacted by the pandemic, Dorney Park like so many of our business partners, continued to show their generosity and commitment. This support for our COVID-19 Emergency Fund is a clear demonstration of that commitment to keep our community safe,” Wrisley said.

LVHN and Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom have partnered in many ways to assist the community over the years, the most notable being the park’s hosting of LVHN’s annual drive-thru flu campaign each November.

Free, drive-thru flu shots will be given at Dorney Park, South Whitehall Township, Nov. 7, and at Coca-Cola Park, Allentown, Nov. 8. More details about receiving the vaccine will be provided in the fall.
