South Whitehall Township police are asking for help from the public to identify the drivers of two cars involved in a drive-by shooting which occurred 3:40 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 2400 block of Walbert Avenue.
According to a post on the police department’s Facebook page, shots were fired from the passenger side of a light blue, four-door sedan in the direction of a light color four-door sedan that was traveling in front of the vehicle westbound on Walbert Avenue.
The driver of the light blue car, whose registration is not known, then turned southbound into a neighborhood with no further direction of travel.
There are no known suspects or victims at this time, police say.
Bruce Schlegel of Upper Macungie spoke with The Press Aug. 8 about the incident.
“I hear four load noises,” he said. “I first thought they were fireworks. Then I thought about it and said to myself they were gunshots.”
When he looked out the window of a nearby store, he did not see anything.
“So, I thought whatever it was, was over with,” he added. “Then a customer who was in the store came back in and asked if I saw and heard what happened.
“I said yes, I heard the shots.”
Schlegel said the area was shut down for almost two hours while police investigated.
“They were here right away,” Schlegel said.
Anyone with information or a video of the incident is asked to call police at 610-398-0337.
