EMERSON COLLEGE

Students named to dean’s list

Emerson College congratulates the students named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester. The requirement to make Emerson’s dean’s list is a grade-point average of 3.7 or higher.

ITHACA COLLEGE

Levano, Schmidt graduate, earn dean’s list

Ithaca College congratulates Giancarlo Levano, of Whitehall, and Megan Schmidt, of Coplay, who graduated in May. Levano, a music education major, received a Bachelor of Music in music education. Schmidt, a musical theater major, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in musical theater.

The students were also named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester.

Founded in 1892, Ithaca College is a residential college dedicated to building knowledge and confidence through a continuous cycle of theory, practice and performance. Home to some 6,200 students, the college offers more than 100 degree programs in its schools of business, communications, humanities and sciences, health sciences and human performance and music.

UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND

Ricks earns dean’s list

Elisabeth Ricks, of Northampton, earned dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester at University of Rhode Island.

To be included on the dean’s list, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades during a semester and achieved at least a 3.3 quality-point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades earning at least a 3.3 QPA.

The students represent nearly all of Rhode Island’s cities and towns, all six New England states, New York, New Jersey and many other states and countries.

The University of Rhode Island’s pioneering research extends the university’s influence well beyond its coastal borders, while its unique interdisciplinary courses provide its 16,852 undergraduate and graduate students with global opportunities in an intimate environment. In May 2020, more than 3,500 undergraduate and about 700 graduate degrees were awarded. The university now has more than 120,000 alumni worldwide.

MUHLENBERG COLLEGE

Students named to dean’s list

Congratulations to these students for being named to Muhlenberg College’s dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester. Muhlenberg College students and Muhlenberg College School of Continuing Studies students with a term GPA of 3.5 or higher were recognized for this academic achievement.

Founded in 1848, Muhlenberg is a highly selective, private, four-year residential, liberal arts college located in Allentown. NORWICH UNIVERSITY

Christman earns diploma

Malcolm Norman Christman, of Coplay, officially received a Bachelor of Science in management, summa cum laude, from Norwich University May 2. Due to concerns related to COVID-19, the 2020 ceremony was postponed.

Graduates include future military officers, law enforcement officers and many who will go on to graduate school, jobs in the federal government, athletic training, construction management and numerous sectors of public service. The Class of 2020 is comprised of 173 civilian students and 299 students in the Corps of Cadets.

Norwich University is a diversified academic institution that educates traditional-age students and adults in a Corps of Cadets and as civilians. Norwich offers a broad selection of traditional and distance-learning programs culminating in baccalaureate and graduate degrees. Norwich University was founded in 1819 by Captain Alden Partridge of the U.S. Army and is the oldest private military college in the United States of America. COASTAL CAROLINA UNIVERSITY

Blount named to president’s list

More than 1,100 students were named to the president’s list at Coastal Carolina University for the spring 2020 semester, including Aja Blount, a communication major from Northampton.

Dean’s list is announced

The following local residents made the dean’s list at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2020 spring semester. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for dean’s list if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.4; they do not have any grades of “incomplete,” “D” or “F”; and they have registered for and completed at least 12 credit hours.

Local residents were among more than 2,000 students were named to the University of Scranton’s dean’s list for the 2020 spring semester. The dean’s list recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a GPA of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the dean’s list.

Students named to honor society

Northampton Community College inducted 165 students into the Bethlehem campus Tau Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society. NCC’s first virtual induction ceremony was held June 17 via Zoom. This year’s keynote speaker was NCC graduate, former Tau Gamma chapter member and 2019’s International Most Distinguished Member Award winner Jose Ruiz. The 2019-20 inductees follow.

JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY

Yandrasitz named to dean’s list

Coplay resident Haley Yandrasitz has been named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2020 semester. Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Yandrasitz is a biology major.

Established in 1908, James Madison University is a community of 22,000 students and 4,000 faculty and staff, nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. Nejad named to dean’s list

More than 2,300 undergraduate students at Coastal Carolina University were named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester, including Conner Nejad, a management pre-major major from Whitehall.

Rogers, Thoma earn dean’s list

Kenley Rogers and Kelly Thoma, both of Bath, have earned dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester at University of Findlay. To earn this achievement, a student must attain a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Located in Findlay, Ohio, the University of Findlay is known not only for science, health professions, animal science and equestrian studies programs, but also for cultivating the next generation of business leaders, educators and global citizens through a dedication to experiential learning, both in and outside of the classroom.

Established in 1882 through a joint partnership between the Churches of God, general counsel and the City of Findlay, the University of Findlay has nearly 80 majors leading to baccalaureate degrees and offers 11 master’s degrees and five doctoral degrees. QUINNIPIAC UNIVERSITY

Sherwin makes dean’s list

Morgan Sherwin, of Coplay, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2020 semester at Quinnipiac University. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn a GPA of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.

Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston. The university enrolls 7,000 full-time undergraduate and 3,000 graduate and part-time students in 110 degree programs through its schools of business, communications, education, engineering, health sciences, law, medicine, nursing and the college of arts and sciences.

Quinnipiac is recognized by U.S. News & World Report and Princeton Review’s “The Best 385 Colleges.” The Chronicle of Higher Education has named Quinnipiac among the Great Colleges to Work For.

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN

Keyser named to dean’s list

Noble Keyser, of Walnutport, has been named to the dean’s list at University of Nebraska- Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2019-20 academic year. Keyser, a graduate student working toward a Master of Science in business analytics, was named to the dean’s list for the college of business. Nearly 7,500 students at Nebraska have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.

Qualification for the dean’s list varies among the eight undergraduate colleges and the Explore Center. All qualifying GPA are based on a four-point scale and a minimum number of graded semester hours, which varied by college during the spring semester. Students can be on the dean’s list for more than one college.

Moser, Zambrano make dean’s list

Two Northampton residents, Brandy N. Moser and Korina V. Zambrano, have recently been named to the dean’s list at Boston University for the spring semester. Each school and college at Boston University has its own criterion for the dean’s list, but students generally must attain a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, or be in the top 30 percent of their class, as well as a full course load as a full-time student.

Founded in 1839, Boston University is an internationally recognized institution of higher education and research.
