Backpack drive Aug. 22 for Valley Youth House

On Aug. 22, the G.I.V.E. Club (Get Involved, Value Everyone) will hold a backpack drive to benefit Valley Youth House. The club is looking for donations of backpacks and school supplies to fill the backpacks. Items can be dropped off in front of the high school main entrance between noon and 3 p.m. Any questions can be directed to the club adviser, Anne Schneider at aschneider@salisburysd.org. A complete list of items needed can be found on the school website under LIVE FEED.

Speaking of the school website, there is some updated information listed if you look under REUNITE SALISBURY at the top of the homepage. There is an updated calendar, the health and safety plan and a lot of information about the fall start of the school year. Do not use the dates listed in the EVENTS column because that has not been updated. As plans are finalized, more information will become available soon.

Baseline ImPACT testing for fall sports will not be done at the high school computer lab this year. Students can complete the testing on their own laptop at home. For the link and instructions, contact Salisbury Athletic Trainer Julie Nunn at jnunn@salisburysd.org. ImPACT tests need to be completed every year for middle school students and every other year for high school students.

Salisbury Township drop-off centers are open on alternating weeks. Franko is open the week of Aug. 10, Devonshire the week of Aug. 17. The centers are open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
