Edward H. Heagy of Shippensburg and New Tripoli, died April 26, 2020, at home surrounded by loving family and devoted friend, after a brief illness.
Born March 7, 1947, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Elwood M. Heagy and the late Sara Hataway Heagy Hipple.
His survivors include children Victoria and Graham Heagy of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Alexandra Heagy of Los Angeles, Calif.; his loving partner Erika Chomka; sisters Janet Parthemer and Sandy McNaughton; nieces Heather Boyle and Christie Johnson; nephews Matt McNaughton and Kurt Forry; grandnieces Gracie and Claire Johnson and Jordan Boyle; and grandnephews Ian and Cole McNaughton, Jack Johnson, and Oliver and Hans Forry.
He was predeceased by a nephew, Chad McNaughton.
A graduate of Middletown Area High School, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and Pratt Institute in New York City, N.Y., his career in art spanned multiple uses of his talents in art education, commercial art, trade show marketing, medical video production in Harrisburg, Bethlehem, Allentown and Philadelphia with extensive travel which he enjoyed.
Most recently in retirement, he returned to his personal art and was awarded numerous local and national awards through the Council For the Arts in Chambersburg. His artist signature is “Hataway.”
Although there was no formal funeral service, it is the sincerest hope of his family that his many treasured friends experience an appropriate way to celebrate his wonderful life, humor and wit.
Find a way to appreciate the wonders and beauty of this world as he observed with an “artist’s eye.” In that way, you will honor the unique perspective on life he shared with all who knew him.
He deeply cared for people and he was deeply loved.
