Members of the Parkland Garden Club recently planted and mulched the Butterfly Garden maintained by the club at Covered Bridge Park, South Whitehall. The Butterfly Garden has been in existence since 1994.
The township provides mulch for the garden and in the past, Boy Scouts used to help spread the mulch.
But, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scouts were not available.
The area is planted with perennials that will attract pollinators to the garden.
In spring 2009, the club renovated the entire garden.
And, that same year, the club was presented with an award from the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society for the members’ work in the garden.
As the members were working, they received many positive comments from people who were passing by, taking advantage of the ball fields, walking their dogs, or just enjoying the area.
