Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association President Rick Hess said the 2020 fund drive will be held in August and September.
“Information to borough residents, including a self-addressed envelope, will be in the mail this week,” Hess said.
The association has no quota for its fund appeal, but Hess reported mail-in contributions are usually around $6,300.
Years ago, when the fund drive was done on a house-by-house basis, as much as $8,500 was collected. There was also a wooden thermometer erected at the post office indicating the progress of the fund drive.
The association fund drive supports its food bank, convalescent equipment for residents, community Christmas caroling and tree lighting, the Halloween parade and other special projects.
In addition, the association is also having its annual school bag project for children returning to classes in the fall. The school bags will contain pencils, pens, rulers, stationary supplies and other items.
The free school bags are available by contacting the association so that appointments can be made for families.

There are also other fund drives held annually by groups in town, including Coplay Fire Department, Coplay Sports Inc. and Coplay Lions Club.
