FHS’s Davies wins PPL scholarship

Ethan T. Davies, a Freedom HS senior, was a recent winner of the PPL Electric Utilities Future Environmental Leaders Scholarship.

He will receive $2,000 toward his environmental system engineering studies at Penn State University. PPL founded the program in 2019 to assist high school seniors in its service area in pursuing an environmentally-related career.

Moravian Academy, Swain School partner

Lehigh Valley private schools Moravian Academy and The Swain School intend to sign a binding memorandum of understanding regarding a partnership later this summer. If approved during planned separate board votes later this summer, this would go into effect for the 2020-21 academic year.

Moravian’s downtown and high school campuses and Swain in Allentown will continue to operate independently and provide small-school experiences for students. The partnership offers students more resources, such as additional course options, while maintaining small, close-knit school communities.
