ALLENTOWN AREA ECUMENICAL FOOD PANTRY needs volunteers Monday, Thursday and Friday and an occasional Tuesday. Volunteers will pack groceries noon to 2-2:30 p.m. into two bags each for the number of clients who have come that day. Everyone must wear a mask. EASTON AREA COMMUNITY CENTER is looking for volunteers (minimum age 18) for their summer camp program. Interested individuals should enjoy working with children ages five to 16 years old. You will be assisting with arts and crafts activities as well as outdoor sports activities. Volunteers are needed 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 7. GRACEDALE NURSING HOME, Nazareth, needs volunteers to be the reason someone smiles today. There are over 500 residents living at Gracedale who could sure use a pick-me-up. Why not spend a few minutes of your day sharing happy (non-religious) thoughts and well wishes with the men and women in the facility who have not been able to receive visitors or participate in group programs. The staff would also enjoy some notes of thanks and will be able to distribute your cards, letters or handmade drawings to the residents. Both youth and adults are encouraged to help stimulate their imagination and bring smiles to the faces of all who view your handiwork. NEW BETHANY MINISTRIES, Bethlehem, is seeking volunteers who will commit to a recurring daily, weekly or monthly schedule to help prepare and package hot meals for weekday curbside lunches. SHARECARE FAITH IN ACTION, Bethlehem needs many volunteers to help with taking people to their vital appointments. All volunteers will have to attend an online orientation, provide a criminal background check and provide proof of insurance. Cloth masks and hand sanitizer will be provided to volunteers. THE LITERACY CENTER, Allentown, is looking for virtual volunteers to assist with online GED and ESL classes. Opportunities are available for in-class assistants, study group leaders and one-on-one tutors. Training is provided. Prior teaching experience is preferred and experience with virtual conferencing programs such as Zoom and Google Classroom is a plus. Volunteer shifts range from occasional, to weekly, to multiple days a week. Reliable Internet connection and computer with audio/video capabilities are required. THE SANCTUARY AT HAAFSVILLE, Breinigsville, provides a nurturing environment for rescued cats and dogs in need of fur-ever homes. Skills-based volunteers are needed to join the grant writing committee to either write the grants or research and follow up with grants focused in one or more areas: corporate relations, medical costs, facility and operations, transport, general grant opportunities and more.
