St. John’s United Church of Christ, 575 Grape St., is planning to hold a drive-by donation event 10 a.m.-noon and 6-8 p.m. July 23 for backpacks and other school supplies for students in the Whitehall-Coplay School District.

Items needed are new or gently used backpacks, loose-leaf notebook paper, pencils, pencil cases, colored pocket folders, crayons, black permanent markers, rulers, glue sticks, erasers, pens, composition books, yellow highlighters, index cards, dividers with tabs and ring binders.

Enter on Grape Street and leave by the rear alley.

Wear a mask, and observe the 6-feet social-distancing rules.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church parish is planning to hold a drive-thru chicken dinner 4-6 p.m. July 29.

The meal includes half of a chicken, corn on the cob, baked potato, coleslaw, roll with butter and dessert. This meal is fully prepared by Fairview House Catering.

Only 250 meals will be sold, so you must order promptly. All orders are due by July 22.
