William E. “Dusty” Sweeney, 67, of Allentown, died July 3, 2020, in his home.
The son of the late Edward Joseph and Shirley Marie (Herman) Sweeney, he and his wife, Anne Marie Flanagan, were married 34 years.
He was a member of Cathedral St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
He served during the Vietnam War in the Marine Corps.
Retired from the County of Lehigh as a program analyst, he delivered The Morning Call to outlying areas for local carriers in the Lehigh Valley area.
He will be remembered as a family man and loving husband, father, brother and friend to many.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tara L. Sweeney, of Harrison, N.J.; brothers Daniel Sweeney of Allentown and Joanne Ziegenfuss of Freemansburg, Timothy, husband of Robin Sweeney, of Bethlehem, Robert Sweeney and Anthony Shuford and Michael “Shawn” Sweeney, both of Allentown and Mary Erceg of Riegelsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated July 9 at Cathedral St. Catharine of Siena, 1825 W. Turner St., Allentown, PA.
Viewing will be 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday in Robert C. Weir Funeral Home, 1802 W. Turner St., Allentown.
Interment will be private.
Donations may be made to the Gift of Life Family House, 401 Callowhill St., Philadelphia, PA 19123.
This is a residence for family members while their loved one is in the hospital in Philadelphia.
