The Ridings moves ahead

Although activity at the Ridings development was halted for awhile due to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, construction has resumed on the Schnecksville project.

Located along Schneck Road between Spruce Street and Hickory, Phase I of the Ridings will include 43 single family homes on 20 acres of land.

North Whitehall Township Manager Chris Garges reports the houses will be served by public water lines from either the Lehigh County Authority or Northampton Municipal Water Authority.

Sewage will flow to the Allied Utilities Services facility situated in a hollow at the intersection of Schneck Road and Spruce Street.

Garges noted the state Department of Environmental Protection has a methodology for determining the capacity of a sewage plant.

Phase I of the Ridings was approved for the Allied plant.

Garges stated a model house is already positioned on the west side of Schneck Road.

Supervisors agreed to allow the builder, Tuskes, to close Schneck Road while working on the project.

Motorists will detour using Hickory Road, Spruce Street or Coplay Creek Road while Schneck Road is closed.

The Ridings will also have a Phase II which has not yet been submitted to the planning commission.

Garges noted the preliminary outline for Phase II includes 45-47 single family homes on the 26 acre site.

He said Ridings Phase II will probably have two intersections with Spruce Street, possibly at Timber Lane and/or Foxcroft.

Garges stated it has not been decided whether Phase I and Phase II will connect internally.

He said some topography issues would have to be addressed for that to happen.
