MACUNGIE BOROUGH COUNCIL
Borough engineer Stan Wojciechowski provided updates on several projects at the July 6 Macungie Borough Council virtual meeting.
The brick installation from Main Street Streetscape Phase III is proceeding. The bid for Streetscape Phase IV had been awarded to Mohawk Contracting & Development. The bid documents state they will use Eastern States Paving, Inc. as their subcontractor for the brick paver work. The contract award is $307,645.
The Church Street Americans with Disabilities Act ramp project is progressing. The street light installation on Lumber Street is moving along. There was a grant award of $42,317.
Stone Hill Meadows requested consideration of Security Release #7 in the amount of $181,913.04. This was approved.
There is a report about water running from the Stone Hill Meadows development onto Willow Street. This will be investigated.
Main Street Commons is progressing. Installation of the 8-inch water line across Main Street will be occurring in the near future.
A car wash has been proposed in the area near the new Embassy Bank and Turfpro on Main Street.
Work is progressing at Estates of Brookside. Sidewalks are beginning and driveway aprons have been created.
A thank you letter will be sent to the Macungie Woman’s Club for their donation to the Macungie Institute. The club has disbanded.
Litter is being found in the borough’s bump outs. Residents are being reminded about disposing of litter in appropriate receptacles.
There has been an ongoing discussion about the zoning hearing board fees. Upon investigation, it was determined fees have remained the same since 2016. A resolution will be drafted for a change in the fee schedule.
The Brookside Country Club development is moving along. A buffer between neighborhoods is being considered. Ideas such as a rain garden between the country club and the development is being considered.
The dress code for the employee handbook will be revised to allow shorts which are of uniform quality for public works employees as well as the police bike patrol. Shorts will also be included for police undercover work.
