ALBURTIS BOROUGH COUNCIL

Alburtis Borough Council started the June 24 meeting by approving meeting minutes, bills for payment, the fiscal consultant’s report and Resolution No. 2020-5 to sell the Dodge Durango.

Following that, council opened the meeting to public comment. A borough resident voiced their concerns about neighbors parking in front of their mailbox, thus preventing them from receiving mail two times in the past week. The resident proposed painting the curb in front of their mailbox yellow or removing the white lines that serve as a parking space to potentially deter neighbors from parking there.

Council also reviewed an estimate for new signs at Walbert Memorial Park. The costs are $110.50 and $101.

Lehigh Valley Planning Commission contacted the borough in regard to a subdivision near Willow Lane. LVPC required an appointment for plan signing and more in-depth plan examination.

Next, council discussed Lehigh County “green phase” guidelines. These guidelines addressed work, congregation and social restrictions and stated that “All businesses must follow CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and DOH [Pennsylvania Department of Health] guidelines for social distancing and cleaning,” and advises to “monitor public health indicators, adjust orders and restrictions as necessary.”

Council also reviewed a census update comparing the Pennsylvania self-response (64.8 percent) in comparison to Alburtis’ self-response (79 percent).
