St. Peter Roman Catholic Church has canceled its annual homecoming picnic because of the coronavirus pandemic.

There may be follow-up opportunities to purchase picnic food in the future.

The tot lot and Coplay Parkway have now been open to the public since the county moved to Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf’s green phase.

Entry to the borough hall is also now open to the public; however, people must wear masks and will have access only to the borough office and police station.

The Ironton Rail Trail is open to the public as well, and the wearing of masks is recommended.

Coplay Public Library reopened June 29 at 50-percent capacity.

The town’s three churches - St. John’s Lutheran, St. Peter Roman Catholic and Redeemed Christian Church of God - are holding weekend services and opening more pews to their parishioners in accordance with guidelines set by Wolf.

Public works employees have recently been painting yellow no-parking zones across the borough.

The next step in the project may be to have yellow and white lines painted to divide traffic on Chestnut Street.
