To the Editor:

With warm weather finally here, I am delighted to have my windows open all the time.

I am not so delighted, however, to listen to trucks downshifting into and accelerating out of Congdon Hill Drive in the middle of the night, to hear the endless drone of earth-moving equipment and girders being pounded into foundations, sometimes before the sun rises and to have errant tractor-trailers ending up on my residential street.

In Alburtis Borough, now surrounded on two sides by warehouses and distribution centers and more coming, we appear to have reaped what was sown years ago by profoundly unfortunate zoning and land development decisions by Lower Macungie Township and the Jaindl holding companies.

Could anyone honestly not have thought of the increases in noise, light and air/ozone pollution as well as the land degradation we’re living with now?

Seems to me a classic example of decisions made by distant others who do not have to live with the consequences.
