The Lehigh Valley-Pocono Sports Hall of Fame’s annual induction dinner, postponed May 9 because of the coronavirus, has been rescheduled for 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Northampton Memorial Banquet and Event Center in Northampton.

The Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020 is headed by retired North Carolina State football coach Chuck Amato (Easton, 1964) and 14-year Major League Baseball pitcher Gary Lavelle (Liberty, 1967).

The other inductees are Michael Brichta (Southern Lehigh, ’74), four-year starting football lineman at Moravian College; Bob Guzzo (Wilson, ’62), 30-year head wrestling coach at North Carolina State; Ed Laubach (Frenchtown, ’57), executive sports editor and columnist for The Express-Times; Tim McClellan (Parkland, ’78), nationally renowned strength and conditioning coach at Arizona State; Bill Schmidt (Parkland, ’78), six-time national powerlifting champion; Tom Schoeninger, 18-time Colonial League tennis coach of the year at Pen Argyl Area High School and Moravian Academy; and Jim Villani (Liberty, ’75), quarterback/punter free agent signee of the Seattle Seahawks, New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles.

Gwen Whilden (Parkland, ’70), who produced 18 state swimming champions at Northampton Area High School, will be inducted posthumously.
