John F. Boyle
John F. Boyle, 85, of New Tripoli, formerly of Pompton Lakes, N.J. and the Inwood neighborhood of New York City, N.Y., died June 20, 2020, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.
He was the widower of Theresa M. (Ford) Boyle.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late John F. and Margaret (O’Connor) Boyle of Ireland.
He attended Good Shepherd School and then Rice High School.
He served in the U.S. Army with the 1st Infantry Division.
After discharge, he worked his way up from the mail room to computer programmer during his almost 35-year career with the American Cyanamid Company.
Wanting to give back in his retirement, he became a teacher’s aide at Windsor Learning Center, Pompton Lakes, for the next decade.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Parish, New York City, St. Mary’s, Pompton Lakes, and finally St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Orefield.
His survivors include son Sean F. Boyle, his wife, Kristen; grandchildren Teighan, Tealyn and Tyleigh; and his Boxer buddy, Panda.
He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Boyle.
A devoted New York Giants season ticket holder along with many of his good friends from Inwood, he was always in attendance for his son’s football games for PLYO, DePaul Catholic High School and the University of Pennsylvania.
The last 15 years of his life, he was a devoted grandfather attending his granddaughters’ athletic and school events while also making sure the girls got off the bus safely each day from his front door guard post with Panda.
He will be sorely missed by his family in the United States and Ireland, and his friends from Inwood, Pompton Lakes and Pennsylvania.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 a.m. June 25 at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield, with the Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Wargo as celebrant.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of the Magnificat Catholic Church Cemetery, Kinnelon, N.J.
