VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

DELAWARE & LEHIGH NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR would appreciate people helping by picking up trash on the trail as part of the D&L Trail Tenders program. In general people can help clean the D&L Trail or trailheads by picking up trash, removing sticks or brush and helping keep the signs clean. For those who do more than picking up a few things on a walk, report what was done for D&L to keep track of it using an online form: https://delawareandlehigh.org/trail-programs/trail-tenders/trail-tenders-reporting-form.

LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK is calling all artists, young and old, to help cheer up hospitalized patients who are not permitted visitors by creating (nondenominational) inspirational get-well cards and letters. Also needed are encouragement or thank you cards for the hardworking staff and clinical workers. Please mail your cards and letters to: LVHN, Volunteer Services, P.O. Box 689, Allentown, 18105.

SIXTH STREET SHELTER Allentown is seeking volunteers to assist with weeding and other beautifying projects outside of our shelter. They have a playground and several gardens in need of attention. This opportunity allows for social distancing. Please bring a mask with you for entering the building to sign a waiver and receive a temperature check before working. Up to four volunteers from up to three different households can be accepted 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesdays. They look forward to having the outdoor spaces more inviting for the families they serve and the community at large. Contact Heather Pritchard at 610-435-1490 or hpritchard@caclv.org.
