Salisbury Police Department officers recently completed a traffic safety detail on township roadways that extended through parts of May and June.
The details were supported by state Buckle Up Pa grants said Salisbury Patrol Officer Bryan Losagio, “but our seat belt stops revealed a number of other traffic infractions.”
Forty-seven vehicle stops resulted in 54 traffic citations, Losagio said. Ten speeding tickets were issued, with two motorists traveling at 70 and 84 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone.
Seven tickets were issued for motorists without valid driver licenses and seven for lack of insurance documentation.
Six tickets were issued for seat belt violations and one commercial vehicle violation, as well as 23 other miscellaneous infractions.
“Even with traffic counts down because of Pennsylvania’s stay at home order, there are still those who do not observe traffic safety laws,” Losagio said. “That emphasizes our department’s need for highway safety vigilance.”
Next month officers will be conducting details supported by the state’s aggressive driving grants. The grants provide for enforcement efforts that do not take away from Salisbury Township’s routine police patrols, Losagio said.
