Evelyn J. (Snyder) Grammes, 101, from Bethlehem, formerly of Whitehall, died June 12, 2020, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg campus, Bethlehem.

She was the wife of the late Paul R. Grammes.

Born Nov. 15, 1918, in Germansville, she was the daughter of the late Oscar P. and Althea M. (Wehr) Snyder.

A 1936 graduate of William Allen High School, she also was a graduate of the former Henry’s Beauty School, Allentown.

She was a hairdresser at the former Hess Bros. and Lewis’ Beauty Salon, both in Allentown for 10 years before retiring.

She was the oldest member of Jordan Evangelical Lutheran Church, Orefield.

A charter member of the Whitehall Women’s Club and the Parkland Garden Club, she was member of the Northampton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, AARP Chapter 3115 and the Whitehall Senior Citizens.

Her survivors include sons Thomas P. Grammes (Patricia) of Bethlehem, William R. Grammes (Donna) of Whitehall; grandchildren Jennifer Steirer, Kellie Tremba, Jeffrey and Bryan Grammes; great-grandchildren Conor, Brendan, Ben and Carlye Grammes, Ty, Teagan and Trey Tremba, Sophie and Ella Steirer, and Caleb and Annabel Grammes.

A private funeral service will be held at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Schnecksville, with the Rev. Donald W. Hayn officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will follow the service at Jordan Lutheran Church Cemetery, Orefield.
