EMMAUS PUBLIC LIBRARY

Emmaus Public Library will hold its ‘Imagine Your Story’ summer reading club through Aug. 15 to encourage and reward children, teens and adults for reading through the summer months.

Summer reading is key to helping children maintain their literacy skills and giving them a head start for the upcoming school year.

Children receive incentives for hours spent reading or being read to, plus bonuses for activities such as taking part in the library’s weekly online storytime series, which runs 10:30 a.m.

There are plans to add storytime sessions on the library lawn if Lehigh County enters the ‘Green’ phase prior to Aug. 15.

Teen readers, those entering sixth grade and above, can earn raffle tickets for hours spent reading for a chance to win gift baskets at the end of the program.

Readers 18 years and older are entered for a chance to win bi-weekly gift baskets for reading and submitting brief book reviews.

The library’s summer reading club is open to all library patrons, even if they live outside the library’s service area. A library card is not necessary to participate, only to borrow materials.

The library has more than 80,000 items to lend and is part of the Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative, with a combined 750,000 items shared by 11 libraries in Lehigh and Carbon counties.
