LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

EASTERN SALISBURY COLUMN

Well, we officially celebrated our first Memorial Day in quarantine by the time you read this. I hope that everyone did what they felt was safe for their family and had a wonderful time!

We are almost at the end of the school year….and I know I can’t be the only one who is happy with that right? My kids are done with virtual learning and really are missing the “school” routine.

That being said, the Salisbury Township School District has posted important information regarding end of the official school year dates. The final day for instruction for students in kindergarten through grade 11 will be June 1, while May 29 will be the last day for the graduating seniors. They have yet to release any information regarding laptop and iPad collections or gathering of personal items from the schools.

Harry S Truman Elementary School continues with its yearbook sales. It is not too late to grab a copy. To order, visit Christmascitystudios.com and enter code: HSTESYB20. You will need to enter your students name and complete your order. You will have the option to have it shipped to you or for pick up in the fall. Don’t miss this chance for this year’s memories.

The next operations committee meeting will be held via Zoom 7 p.m. June 3. Registration information will be posted on the district website and Facebook 48 hours in advance. There will also be a curriculum and technology meeting June 8, again via Zoom, beginning 7 p.m. Registration will also open for this meeting 48 hours prior.

The Devonshire Yard waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday with the guidelines in place to comply with social distancing. The township will review current procedures moving forward and decide which site will be open on a rotating schedule. Stay tuned for more information.

In honor of Memorial Day weekend, I leave you with something that was stated before my time, but that speaks volumes to this day.

“My fellow Americans, Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” John F. Kennedy

May we all remember those who have made our country amazing.
