Two Republicans seek Wild’s seat in the 7th Congressional District

There are three candidates for the seat in the 7th Congressional District in the June 2 General Primary Election.

Incumbent Congresswoman Susan Wild is running unopposed on the Democrat side of the ticket.

The winner of the primary between Republicans Dean N. Browning and Lisa Scheller will face Wild in November election.

The Republican candidates were asked to respond to the following question in 100 words or less:

What is the greatest need facing the people in your district as a result of the shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

Republican Dean N. Browning’s response: The greatest need is for us to reopen and to start the work of repairing our economy after the devastation from the COVID-19 virus.

That is assuming we have an economy to repair. We took the steps that we did to flatten the curve so that our hospital system would not be overwhelmed.

We are long since passed that and are at the point where we are flattening our economy, flattening millions of jobs and flattening hundreds of thousands small businesses - some of them permanently.

We need to reopen businesses in the PA-7th Congressional District now.

Republican Lisa Scheller’s response: During this period of health and economic crisis, small businesses, and the jobs they represent need fighters in their corner now more than ever.

As congresswoman, it will be my highest priority to work with leaders in the Lehigh Valley, Congress and others to get our economy back on track.

I will bring my experience running a small business and creating jobs to Washington to stand up for the working men and women across the Lehigh Valley desperate to get back to work and feed their families.

The 7th Congressional District includes Lehigh and Northampton counties and part of Monroe County.
