COVID-19

Due to the evolving and fluid situation surrounding COVID-19 and its impact, associations, clubs, committees, volunteer groups and other organizations are canceling events, meetings and other potential gatherings.

The Upper Milford Historical Society has canceled the meeting scheduled 7 p.m. May 28 at the Upper Milford Township Building, Old Zionsville. For information, call 610-966-4851.

Upper Milford Western District Fire Company No. 1 has canceled its chicken barbecue scheduled for June 27. If it is rescheduled, it will be announced in the community calendar in The Press.

AARP #4150 Lower Macungie Chapter recently announced the group will not meet in May due to COVID-19. Tentative plans are for a June meeting in the Upper Milford Township Municipal Center, Zionsville. For information, call 610-967-3284 or 610-570-3191.

The Emmaus Flag Day Program, scheduled for June 14, has been canceled. “In keeping with the guidelines for social distancing and with respect for students who were not able to submit poems and essays because of school closures and distance learning issues, the program was canceled.” They look forward to seeing students and families next Flag Day, June 14, 2021, at the Community Park Pavilion, Emmaus.

The annual Emmaus Veterans Memorial Day Parade which would have been celebrated this year May 25 has been canceled along with the ceremony honoring the departed veterans held at the Memorial Gardens.

The Emmaus Honor Guard will conduct their annual salute to the departed veterans by firing over the borough’s cemeteries. The firing over the graveside’s will be held 7:45 a.m. May 25 followed by a ceremony for the fallen veteran comrades since last Memorial Day. This event will be held at the usual Memorial Day site located at the intersections of Third and Fourth streets, Emmaus.
