Supervisors award bids for road materials, fuel

Lynn Township supervisors had a short meeting in April because of the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing requirements.

After acceptance of the minutes and permission to pay the bills, the board dove into the rest of the short agenda.

A waiver request for the well isolation distance was before the board for the property at 7794 Sechler Road.

Supervisors agreed to the waiver and it was adopted contingent upon signing of an indemnification agreement with the township.

No fire company representatives were present, therefore no report on activity was given.

Roadmaster Bruce Raber was present and gave his monthly road report.

Roads and intersections were swept, cold patching was done where needed, gutters were cleaned out, shoulders were cut, maintenance was done on two of the trucks and the usual repair and replacement of signs.

A pipe was replaced on Springhouse Road and some shoulders were cut on the blacktop roads.

Bids for road materials were accepted.

After reviewing the submissions, the board voted to award the bids.

Lehigh Asphalt and New Enterprise were awarded all the bids except for line painting and diesel fuel which were granted to A-1 Traffic Control and PAPCO, respectively.

A resolution was brought before the board which would have declared a state of emergency in the township.

The resolution was not passed. It was expected to be acted on at the next meeting.

A public hearing was held to discuss an ordinance amending certain provisions of the Lynn Township code of ordinances.

No comment was heard on the amendment, thus the meeting was closed.

The board unanimously adopted the amendments which regulate setbacks for swimming pools, temporary signs, nonconforming structures and more than one principal use on a lot in the GC/GI district.

An agreement was made between the Township and Kessler Freedman for updating the township’s website.

The agreement will extend through April 30, 2021 at a cost of $1,000.

In addition, the Northwestern Lehigh Education Foundation will host its first virtual 5K Tiger Run and Fun Walk on May 23.
