The Upper Lehigh Lions Club has canceled its annual Roar With the Lions Festival and Craft Show originally scheduled for July 24 and 25 in the Neffs Union Church grove.

Lion Tom Kern reported the action was taken as a precaution in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The festival has been rescheduled to July 30 and 31, 2021.

Kern said the Schnecktucky Derby is postponed until Aug. 29.

“Hopefully we can do it then,” Kern said.

The chicken barbecue also has been canceled.

The Lions are meeting via Zoom.

Officers have agreed to serve another year in their same positions with Ron Smith serving as club president.

With the Northern Valley Emergency Services building closed to public use, the NOVA Auxiliary had to cancel its paska Easter bread fundraiser.

The bazaar with theme baskets has been rescheduled to Aug. 22.

NOVA member Julie Barna says the chicken barbecue is still on the calendar for July 18 but will have to be takeout only, if it can be held.

The soup, sandwich and bake sale on Election Day are still undetermined.

At this time, it is not known whether the ambulance corps building can be used as a polling place.

As medics are coming and going from the NOVA facility, concerns were raised over COVID-19 issues and precautionary restrictions.

The parish nurses of Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, have issued a few guidelines for the proper use and care of the masks which are helping to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The mask should lie comfortably against the face and should be secured with ties or ear loops.

When putting on and taking off a mask, do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. While the mask is on, try not to touch or adjust it.

This will reduce the chance of the virus moving from the mask to your hands, or vice versa.

Wash hands right before putting the mask on and after taking it off.

Keep your mask clean. Fabric masks should be washed and machine dried after every use.

Cloth face coverings should have multiple layers of fabric but should also allow breathing comfortably.

Members of Union Lutheran sewed more than 1,100 masks which were donated to local hospitals and to people in the community.
