LVHN COVID-19 test center relocated to Old Lehigh County Courthouse
To continue to provide COVID-19 testing in Allentown, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is partnering with Lehigh County to relocate its Allentown site.
The site that opened in March at the Lehigh Valley Family Health Center, 1730 Chew St., Allentown, relocated May 12 to the Old Lehigh County Courthouse, 501 Hamilton St., Allentown.
Hours of operation are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday and 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Signs will direct patients to the Assess and Test Center on the first floor, accessible through the back, or north side, of the building.
The Assess and Test Center at the Family Health Center temporarily moved to 401 N. 17th St., Allentown, when the Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) re-opened the Family Health Center among more than 50 practices and select ExpressCARE locations May 1 as part of COVID-19 recovery.
LVHN alerted Lehigh County’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA), which continues to work closely with LVHN to ensure constituency healthcare is maintained, that it needed a new testing location in Allentown.
Rick Molchany, Lehigh County Director of General Services, contacted Lehigh County Executive Phillips Armstrong and Lehigh County President Judge Edward Reibman, who supported his plan to use the Old Courthouse facility, which is scheduled for renovation.
“During the pandemic, we need to rally and partner to provide services to our local community, and I am proud of the efforts made,” Armstrong said.
Said Molchany, “This is the type of partnership that leads to successful outcomes, and Lehigh County and Lehigh Valley Health Network are serving needs in the center of the local pandemic.”
Said Jennifer Stephens, DO, Chief Medical Officer, LVPG, “COVID testing remains a critical part of continuing to reduce the spread of the virus as more areas start to reopen.
“With COVID-19 still in our community, we want to make sure that we remain vigilant by identifying positive cases and ensuring those patients get the care they need, or recover at home, without further spreading the virus,” Stephens said.
