Moravian College
Undergraduate award winners named
The 2019-20 Moravian College Undergraduate Student Award winners have been announced. The students have demonstrated incredible leadership skills, academic achievement, civic engagement and dedication to their work and to Moravian College.
Featured local honorees are Benjamin Sanchez, James M. Beck Oratorical Prize to a student demonstrating excellence in the art of public speaking; Alvaro Belmonte, Marlyn A. Rader Memorial Prize in Mathematics to the senior who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the study of mathematics; those considered for the award must have completed at least five courses in mathematics, including at least one 300-level course, and the award winner will have the highest mathematics cumulative quality point average among those who qualify; Johanna Pearson, Judith Green Memorial Prize to a music student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and exceptional talent in writing about music, or has demonstrated excellence in musical scholarship and shows promise for future achievement; and Julius Sarkozy, Betty Airestock Moore Prize to the most outstanding junior keyboard musician during his or her second semester junior year and the Steven K. Van Auken Memorial Prize in Music Performance to a member of the junior class for notable achievement in vocal or instrumental performance.
