WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN
Have you heard of the Adopt a Salisbury Senior program? This initiative is going on in communities all over the Lehigh Valley to support the graduating seniors who are missing out on finishing their senior year with friends, canceled sports seasons, prom and much, much more.
If you have a senior and haven’t “put them up for adoption” yet, please contact me at rfoehrkolb@salisburysd.org to sign them up. Use the same email address if you would like to adopt a senior. We want all Salisbury seniors to feel the love during this time. My son received his first care package last week and it made his day.
Salisbury Township School District is now offering free grab and go breakfast and lunch to any Salisbury student. They are being distributed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays at both Salisbury Middle School and Harry S Truman Elementary School. Your student must be in the car to receive the meal. For questions, contact Director of Child Nutrition Camille Laszczak at claszczak@salisburysd.org.
Did you remember to sign up for the free Penn State Extension courses? If not, you are in luck because they extended the deadline to register to May 10.
There are 55 different courses to choose from and you may register for up to three courses. You have 60 days to complete the course. They vary in time length and are broken up into sessions so you don’t need to complete the entire course in one day. I signed up for “How to Grow Raspberries and Blackberries” because they both are favorites in this house. WE ARE!
Salisbury Township opened their drop-off centers May 4 under some restrictions. Devonshire will be open the weeks of May 11 and 26. Franko will be open the weeks of May 4 and 18. The centers will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The drop-offs are open to residents only and proof of residency will be required. Only three cars will be allowed to enter at a time.
Due to social distancing guidelines, township staff will not be able to assist residents with unloading materials and a mask must be worn to enter the facility.
In honor of my Yankee fan son’s birthday, I give you a quote by the GOAT.
“I’m not perfect; no one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. I think you try to learn from those mistakes.” Derek Jeter
