LOWHILL TOWNSHIP: Zoo offering virtual programs for families

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, will be holding its first ever virtual 1K-9 Dog Walk on May 9.

They are asking members of the community to bring their dogs and leashes for an enjoyable morning of exercise around their neighborhood, while they support the zoo.

By purchasing a per-person ticket for this event, participants will be directly supporting the conservation efforts at the zoo.

Ticket holders will also be able to pick up a goodie bag containing an adult zoo ticket and lots of doggy themed goodies upon re-opening of the zoo.

They will also be entered to win a BarkBox.

Be sure to participate by walking your dog and sharing your photos with them at Tag@lvzoo and using hashtag #1K9VirtualDogWalk.

The zoo will be hosting its very first Kids Zingo Virtual Party 5 p.m. May 12 and Kids and Adults Zingo Virtual Party 5 p.m. May 15.

Zingo is an interactive bingo game kids and adults can play from the comfort of their homes.

Using Zoom, participants can enjoy bingo games hosted by the zoo.

The price of each ticket will include two printable Zingo boards for each participant, three rounds of Zingo, virtual encounters with ambassador animals and chances to win prizes including zoo gift cards, animal paintings, and more.

While the kids Zingo game is for children, a parent or guardian must be present at the time of the game.

Did you know May 15 is celebrated as Endangered Species Day?

To keep the celebration going the zoo will be hosting a virtual Endangered Species Day event May 17 on the zoo’s Facebook page.

They will be offering a line-up of entertaining and educational content themed around endangered species.
