Residents have new ways to pay real estate, per capita taxes

Property owners in Northampton Area School District were expected to be informed this week concerning payment of real estate tax and per capita taxes.

“We’re one of few school districts in the area that does not outsource its tax collection,” NASD Superintendent of Schools Joseph S. Kovalchik said May 4.

That is about to change.

In a letter dated May 5 and mailed to taxpayers in the district, NASD administration said Keystone Collections Group is the real estate and per capita tax collector effective July 1.

As of July 1, tax bills may no longer be paid at the NASD office, 2014 Laubach Ave., Northampton.

Real estate and per capita tax bills are expected to be received via mail by district residents July 1. Payment deadline is Aug. 31.

If a mortgage company or bank pays a real estate tax bill from an escrow account, the tax bill must be forwarded to the mortgage company and bank.

There are three ways to pay.

Online - There’s a no-charge electronic transfer from a bank account. There’s a 2.5-percent bank processing fee for credit card payments. Visit keystonecollects.com/pay.

Mail - Payments can be sent to Keystone Collections Group, Real Estate Tax Payment, P.O. Box 505, Irwin, 15642; and Keystone Collections Group, Per Capita Tax Payment, P.O. Box 519, Irwin, 15642.

In person - A cash, check or money order payment can be made 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday at Keystone Collections Group, Black River Plaza, Route 378, Suite A, Lower Saucon Township.
