There’s the group that sits at the long table,

the one that stretches from wall to wall.

Where all the kids my age

(every single one) sit

and talk.

Earlier in the day, I saw them in classes

or passed them in halls

Maybe I looked at them,

and wondered if they noticed me, maybe

something clicked that day, maybe

they waved at me and smiled.

All I know is that now

I sit

alone.
