Matthew John Freeh, 40, of Macungie, allegedly was driving under the influence in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Mountain Road and Chestnut Road, Lower Macungie Township, 11:11 p.m. Jan. 31, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. Freeh allegedly was eastbound on Mountain Road approaching Chestnut Road when he struck a yellow directional roadway sign on the right shoulder of the road. A witness saw Freeh’s vehicle next hit an embankment. The vehicle then traveled in a circle with the sign on the roof before leaving the area of the accident. Freeh was located at his residence where he was placed under arrest, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.

Suzanne Marie Smith, 41, of Philadelphia, allegedly was driving under the influence when her vehicle struck a utility pole in the 5000 block of Chestnut Street, Upper Milford Township, 9:11 p.m. Feb. 11, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. Smith allegedly was traveling north when she lost control of her vehicle. The accident closed the roadway for several hours, according to police. Smith was transported to a hospital for treatment by Macungie EMS. Upper Milford Township fire crews, PPL Utilities, Verizon and Detwiler Towing also responded to the scene.

A 23-year-old female, of Allentown, allegedly removed four bottles of over-the-counter pain relief medication, with a total value of $215, from Costco Wholesale, 751 N. Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Township, 8:21 p.m. Feb. 26, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. Loss prevention personnel at the store told police about the theft.

A 29-year-old female, of Upper Macungie Township, allegedly removed 52 items, with a total value of $314.14, from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 1:25 p.m. March 13, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The woman allegedly failed to scan the items before placing the items in a shopping cart at a self-checkout register.

A 39-year-old female, of Trexlertown, allegedly removed 15 items, with a total value of $100.79, from Walmart, 1091 Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 2:25 p.m. March 13, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The woman allegedly failed to scan the items at a self-checkout register.

A resident of the 8200 block of South Ridge Drive, Lower Macungie Township, reported an unknown person created a bank account using the resident’s information and requested a cash advance of $95.80 Feb. 24, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.

A resident of the 2500 block of Waynesborough Court, Lower Macungie Township, reported a caller, impersonating a representative from a computer software company, offered to reimburse the resident $499.99. The caller gained access to the resident’s computer and sent $4,999.99 by mistake, the caller said. The caller instructed the resident to purchase gift cards to reimburse the caller the difference. It was discovered the caller did not send the money but instead transferred it from one of the resident’s other accounts. The resident is not at a monetary loss in the incident.

A 25-year-old male of Newark, N.J., a 28-year-old male of East Orange, N.J. and a 15-year-old male, of Macungie, allegedly endangered a 15-year-old male, of Macungie, in an incident at Lower Macungie Road and Mill Creek Road, Lower Macungie Township, 10:57 p.m. Dec. 31, 2019. According to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville, troopers attempted a traffic stop and the driver of the vehicle fled with passengers in the vehicle. After a short pursuit, the passengers exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The passengers were apprehended.
