Parkland School District officials are striving to provide successful E-Learning for all grade levels, electives and special needs programs.

Superintendent Richard Sniscak reports the district is offering special education instruction in “the most appropriate way possible in the circumstances.”

He said special education teachers are collaborating through phone and video conferencing to provide programming for their students.

“We want to best meet the needs of the child at home in this virtual environment,” the superintendent said.

He added that whatever is appropriate will be made available for special needs students.

Sniscak noted electives at the secondary level are continuing online.

High schoolers can still have art classes or any other electives, Sniscak said.

He explained that at the elementary level, art, music, and library are offered for enrichment as librarians or media specialists post activities online for children to access.

Sniscak explained the district provides information and instruction on numerous topics for parents on the school district website.

Answers to frequently asked questions and technical support for using the E-Learning system is available there.

The website also explains how to find food assistance, counseling and connecting with the Internet for those who do not have it.

“We have a lot of resources to help guide them in this process,” Sniscak said.
