Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department was joined by more than 200 first responders from around the Lehigh Valley April 10 in a parade around the Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest campus. The first responders wanted to show their appreciation for the committed physicians, nurses and staff who have dedicated themselves to caring for COVID-19 and other patients during the pandemic. The emergency responders honked horns and sounded sirens to call attention to the efforts of these health care heroes putting their own safety at risk and serving on the front line of the pandemic.

A parade of lights at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest lasting more than seven minutes, involved more than 70 emergency vehicles. It was dedicated to the men and women working in the health care field “to show unity, sincere appreciation and complete gratitude as you work tirelessly and selflessly, risking your own lives day after day after day to save human life. As you battle COVID-19, know that your entire community stands with you.

“We thank you, we love you and we salute you. You are the real heroes in society and your lifesaving actions and sacrifices will never be forgotten. We WILL win. Life WILL return back to normal. May God bless you and your families,” the Salisbury Township Police Department posted on its Facebook page.
