LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

emmaus

Social distancing, sheltering in place and handwashing help to prevent the spread of COVID-19 but not the onset of “cabin fever.” However, approved relief is just around the corner. A relaxing jog, bike ride or meditative stroll through one of the area’s parks may help to clear the head and heal the heart.

The paved trails of Emmaus Community Park, 1401 Shimerville Road, Emmaus, are easily navigated and the playground remains available for those with young children. Looking for the opportunity to include a canine companion? Travel to the walking trail at Chestnut Ridge at Rodale, 400 S. 10th St., Emmaus, where a more rustic path winds through meadows and woods. Leashed dogs are permitted. Tenth Street divides Chestnut Ridge at Rodale from Furnace Dam Park, 420 S. 10th St., Emmaus, with its quiet pond and well-situated benches.

In compliance with the current travel and distancing restrictions, information was obtained by walking to each of these parks; pictures were taken using a long-distance lens. If the parks described are not close, check around. Local parks abound and each has something unique to offer. Also, check to make sure the parks are open before venturing out and be aware park facilities and restrooms are probably closed.
