Liberty senior softball pitcher Paige Zigmund knew that her teammates and her opponents throughout the East Penn Conference were all feeling upset about the possibility that their seasons might never be played, so she put together a video to help ease the pain and uncertainty.
“We’re All in This Together” has been making the rounds on social media featuring Allen’s Xiamari Osorio, Bethlehem Catholic’s Shylynn Cordero, Allentown Central Catholic’s Allie Schwab, Emmaus’s Tatum Kressley, Freedom’s Brenna Ortwein, Southern Lehigh’s Skylar Puzio, Parkland’s Ali Superka, Northampton’s Taylor Fegley and Liberty’s Zigmund.
It shows a clip of each of the players tossing a softball out of the frame with the next player catching it, and so on. Each player says the words, “We’re all in this together,” with the song Play Hard by David Guetta in the background.
“I knew we were all feeling the same way, and I wanted something that brought us all together,” said Zigmund. “I wanted everyone to know that they’re not alone.”
Zigmund asked her Hurricane teammates, who had made their own video a few days before, to scout around for players from other schools who would like to participate in the new video. Then she sent those players the Liberty video as an example of what she was looking for.
“A lot of the Liberty teachers really like it,” Zigmund said. “At first, I didn’t expect this [shutdown] to last this long, and then it was longer, but we’re still trying to stay together.
“We talk to our coaches almost every day. If we do play games, I know they’ll be thrown at us, one after the other.”
Until then, the Hurricanes are running and throwing on their own, just in case.
