UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN
We are all staying home as much as possible these days, so it is likely many of the church services and other events you are thinking of attending may be canceled. I haven’t received much information about a lot of them, so check with your church or sponsoring organizations of other events before heading out.
I did receive this message a couple of weeks ago from Carol Shade of the Upper Milford Western District Fire Company: “Good morning; I would like to have you inform our faithful supporters that we will be canceling breakfast for April 5 to keep all of our fire team and volunteers safe, along with the patrons. We will keep you advised for May.”
Meanwhile, at this point both the Upper Milford and Lower Milford township offices are closed to the public. Jessi O’Donnell, of Upper Milford, informs residents they are still available by email and phone and there is a drop box for permit and application submittals, as well as by mail/fax. The office number is 610-966-3223, the fax is 610-966-5184 and the email address is info@uppermilford.net.
As of now, all non-essential meetings have been canceled, awaiting state and federal guidance.
The Earth Day event which was scheduled in April has been postponed until Nov. 21.
Lower Milford Township has also canceled all township meetings until further notice.
The Upper Milford Township Historical Society has not yet made a decision on whether to hold its April meeting. That meeting, as of now, is scheduled for April 30 and will feature a program called Sherlock ‘Homes,’ by Jeffrey Marshall. He has made a career of careful examinations of old houses and structures which provides information not recorded in deeds or diaries.
If the meeting is held, it will be 7 p.m. at the Upper Milford Township municipal building. Check the website at www.uppermilford.org, when it gets closer to the date to see if it has been rescheduled.
The Lower Lehigh AARP, Chapter 4150, normally meets noon on the first Thursday of the month, in the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St., Old Zionsville. For information on whether they will be meeting during the coronavirus crisis, call Dorothy at 610-967-3284.
They will not meet in July and August.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Citizens Fire Company of Vera Cruz is scheduled to meet 7:30 p.m. April 28 at the Vera Cruz Fire Department Social Hall. We haven’t received any information about whether they plan to hold that meeting. For more information, email ladiesaux@vcfd28.com
