State announces $400K in fire, EMS grants

State Sen. Lisa M. Boscola, D-18th, has announced volunteer fire companies and volunteer ambulance services in Lehigh and Northampton counties were awarded $406,836.90 through the 2019-2020 Fire Company, Emergency Medical Services Company Grant Program, which is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“The Fire Company, Emergency Medical Services Company Grant Program helps provide financial assistance to the most vital organizations in our community,” Boscola said. “Our local fire departments, EMS and volunteer ambulance departments are well-deserving of this funding, which will help to protect our citizens and our communities.”

Grants will be not less than $2,500 and not more than $15,000 per applicant fire company and no more than $10,000 per applicant emergency medical service.

LEHIGH COUNTY

•Catasauqua Fire Department - $14,248.03

•Coplay Fire Department - $11,646.38

•Eastern Salisbury Fire Ambulance and Rescue Company - $13,152.60

•Egypt Fire Company No. 1 Whitehall Fire Department - $13,289.53

•Emmaus Borough Ambulance Corps - $7,437.15

•Emmaus Fire Department - $14,248.03

•Fountain Hill Fire Department - $12,604.88

•HAN LE CO Volunteer Fire Company 1 - $11,509.46

•Hokendauqua Fire Company - $12,194.10

•Laurel Fire Company No. 1 - $12,057.17

•West Catasauqua Fire Company - $11,057.17

•Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company - $14,057.67

NORTHAMPTON COUNTY

•City of Easton Fire Department - $14,248.03

•Dewey Fire Company No. 1 Ambulance - $21,694.37

•Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 - $14,111.10

•Nancy Run Fire Company of Butztown - $14,248.03

•Northampton Fire Department - $13,015.67

•Northampton Regional Emergency Medical – $9,192.44

•Palmer Municipal Fire Department - $14,248.03

•Safety First Volunteer Fire Company #1 - $11,825.00

•Se-Wy-Co Fire Company - $25,748.03

•Southeastern Volunteer Fire Company - $13,289.53

•Steel City Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. - $13,563.39

It is important to note the departments now have until May 31 to get their grant agreements to the Office of the State Fire Commissioner so the grants can be processed and the OSFC can get the funds to them.
