SALISBURY TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Cancellations, postponements and changes in municipal government-run services continue in Salisbury Township as the impact of the “stay-at-home” order in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic continues.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Lindberg Park improvements project has been postponed from May 1 until 1 p.m. June 5, Salisbury Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich confirmed in a March 24 email to The Press.

“Pending further COVID-19 status changes, this is a tentative date change for now. A formal announcement will follow once the date has been confirmed,” Bonaskiewich stated.

A March 27 update on the township website announced: “The township’s parks are no longer open for public use until further notice.”

The township is not accepting park pavilion reservations or ballfield permit requests until further notice.

The March 27 update also stated township offices are closed to the public to limit personal contact.

Administrative staff are working remotely from home.

“We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding should you experience a brief delay in receiving a response,” Bonaskiewich’s website notice states.

Administrative staff is available during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, via phone or email to answer questions or conduct routine business.

The township office phone number is 610-797-4000. The general email is info@salisburytownshippa.org.

Canceled township meetings include the 7 p.m. April 7 zoning hearing board and the 7:30 p.m. April 14 planning commission.

The 7 p.m. April 9 Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners’ meeting is still scheduled, but it might be a “virtual” meeting.

Bonaskiewich’s March 26 update on the township’s website states: “The April 9 Board of Commissioners meeting is currently scheduled as usual; however, we are exploring the use of an online meeting platform via Zoom and are currently working to set up and test that functionality. Additional information will be posted on the township’s website as it becomes available.”

Still scheduled April meetings include the environmental advisory council, 7 p.m. April 15 and the second commissioners’ meeting of the month, 7 p.m. April 23.

Municipal services changes include, effective March 30, collection of bulk items suspended until further notice. “Please hold onto any bulk items in need of disposal; Republic will ‘catch up’ on all collections once the suspension is lifted,” Bonaskiewich states on the township website, adding, ”Curbside pickup of your regular household trash and recycling will continue as scheduled.”

Devonshire and Franko yard waste drop-off sites are closed until further notice.

Permit applications are not being accepted until further notice because the township’s third-party inspection agency, CodeMaster-Barry Isett & Associates, Inc., had to suspend business because of the government order.

In-person payment of tax bills is not being accepted. Payments of township taxes must be mailed to the address on the tax bill.

In-person payment of utility bills is not being accepted. Payments must be mailed in the envelope provided with the bill, dropped in the administration building drop box, or made via the online bill payment platform on the township website.
