EASTERN SALISBURY COLUMN
As we continue to navigate these uncharted waters, I hope that everyone is doing what they can to stay healthy and help flatten the curve. We are definitely going down in history for this worldwide event. I don’t know about you but I’m ready to resume my regular normal and my kids are missing school, if only for seeing their friends and teachers.
I hope by now everyone has received Salisbury Township School Districts communication on how they are moving forward with online education for our students. I know my eighth grader is looking forward to seeing some of her friends online and being able to talk to her teachers. My third grader ... well that’s a slightly different story but he needs his school routine back as well. At this time, we really don’t know for how long this will be the “normal” we need to adjust to.
The district is holding a virtual spirit week this week and is asking for photos of students participating. Monday was PJ day, Tuesday was favorite hat day, Wednesday is superhero day, Thursday is kids and pets day and Friday is school spirit day. Feel free to post photos on Twitter with #YourSalisbury or Instagram @salisburysdpa.
There will be changes to the free grab-and-go meal service available to any Salisbury students (kindergarten through grade 12, regardless of free/reduced status) at select Allentown School District school sites (Central Elementary, Harrison Morton, Raub, Trexler, South Mountain Middle School, Allen and Dieruff high schools). Meal service has changed to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday and Wednesday. Mondays will include meals for two days – Monday and Tuesday and Wednesdays will include meals for three days – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Students must be present at meal pickup. All grab-and-go bags will include breakfast items, lunch items, milk and fruits or vegetables. Thank you to the Allentown School District (a NSLP open feeding site) for providing this opportunity to our community through the National School Lunch Program.
I hope everyone is making the best of this time and getting to spend some unanticipated time with those close to them. I keep saying that I am going to be productive, and well ... let’s be honest some days are better than others.
I leave you this week with a quote that has many meanings at this time. “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of a greater or equal benefit.” Napoleon Hill
