WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN
How is everyone doing? Staying socially distant? I don’t know about you, but I am ready for this chaos to be over.
I moved my college senior out of his apartment March 21 and it was so depressing to think that a time that should be fun and exciting is now mundane and boring as he finishes his classes online. His graduation is postponed, hopefully to be rescheduled later this spring or summer. I haven’t given up hope for that.
I also haven’t given up hope that Salisbury Township School District will open up for classes before the end of the school year so my high school senior can finish his last school year with his friends and not holed up in our house. Okay end of rant. Thanks for listening.
The latest items on the list of cancellations include the Frank Yelinko Golf tournament scheduled May 9 and (this one is good news)…the PSSAs and Keystone exams.
Thinking more on the positive side, if we go back to school March 30, we will have a week of school, then a 3-day week before having off April 9, 10 and 13 for spring break. Also, the graduation ceremony for the Salisbury Township School District Class of 2020 is scheduled 6 p.m. June 9 at Allentown Symphony Hall. Attendance is by invitation only.
So what have you been doing during these days of isolation? I keep saying I’m going to deep clean my basement, but that hasn’t happened yet. Instead I made a Harry Potter jigsaw puzzle, watched a bunch of movies and walked my dog. I do hope to get to that basement this week and God help me, give my dog a bath. To say she doesn’t like them is an understatement.
I hope you are doing fun things along with a little work and making the most of your situation. May you find eggs, bread and most of all toilet paper.
