“Mary Poppins” flies onto the stage at Freedom High School, 7 p.m. April 1, 2, 3, 4 and 2 p.m. April 5, auditorium, Freedom High School, 3149 Chester Avenue, Bethlehem.
The musical, with music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, is based on P. L. Travers’ children’s books and the 1964 Walt Disney movie of the same title. Nanny Mary Poppins glides into the chaotic Banks household in 1910 London
Director Justin Amann is assisted by assistant director Natalie Parker, student assistant director Jessica Sturm, choreographer Joey Schubert, assistant choreographer Vanessa Ruggiero, music director Denise Parker and pit orchestra director Michael Moran.
The 2006 Broadway production was nominated for seven Tony Awards, receiving one.
Musical numbers include “Jolly Holiday,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Step in Time” and “Anything Can Happen.”
