VIKING VOICES

Central’s boys basketball team won the district championship against Bethlehem Catholic High School Feb. 28. This is the Vikings second District 11 title in three years. Nick Filchner led with seven points, Liam Joyce with six points and Jaylen Green with five points and two assists all in the fourth quarter. Viking Basketball defeated South Philadelphia 47- 26 in the first round of the state tournament.

The Vikings fell to Pope John Paul II in an exciting matchup March 10 at Governor Mifflin High School in Berks County. The Vikings lost by two points.

Vikette basketball defeated Tamaqua High School 49-21 Feb. 29 and advanced to the state tournament. They defeated Scranton Prep March 10 and will move to the round two of the state tournament.

Allentown Central Catholic High School’s Scholastic Scrimmage team competed against Wallenpaupack High School, the champions of the northeast PA region Feb. 28 at PBS 39 Studios. Varsity team members include Harrison DeWalt, Alan Garger and Michael Prebosnyak.

Congratulations to the ACCHS students who participated in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Regional Competition, which was held at Northampton Area Community College Feb. 29. First Place: Will Mcglynn, Pamela Gonzalez, Gwen Minogue and Kelsey Rodowicz; Second Place: Charles Haring, Sarah Boardman, Dylan Joseph Ferareza, Luke Kuklis, Emma Ossiander and Mary Wilson.

ACCHS theater students participated in a Masters of Broadway musical workshop with Broadway performer, Christy Altomare, inspiring their talent and creativity.
